Prior to founding Rice Creek Capital in 2017, Tom Simonson was Managing Director at a $10+ billion alternative investment manager, where he most recently led the equipment-based investment effort. In this role, he built partnerships with industry specialists to pursue investments ranging from loans secured by small pieces of office and industrial equipment up to direct investments in commercial aircraft. He also spent several years focused on consumer finance – particularly for non-prime/underbanked consumers - in the aftermath of the financial crisis in 2008. Earlier in his career, Tom worked at a venture capital firm where he helped finance and grow companies in the healthcare service and technology industries, and at a large investment bank where he helped finance a variety of retail and industrial companies. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, and a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
